Cate's FIRST Christmas Present

Cate opened her very first Christmas Present this evening (Christmas Eve). She was a real sport about it. The present is some sleepwear picked out (purchased?) by her grandmother (Maggie's mom).

As she approached the box you could cut the tension in the air with a knife...

The lid is off and she is about to dig in...

Chicken + Cate=Icky Poo-Poo

Yeah... she's more of a starch and fruit eater. Not so much a carnivore.

Cate already seems to be enjoying her first Christmas!

Cate Learns To Use The Computer

The girls are teaching Cate how to design an amusement park.

I think we might have a prodigy on our hands. She was able to keep her first amusement park operational and profitable right up until she ate the mouse and vomited on the keyboard.

Cate's Bath Time (again!)

This one is extra funny because we have a musical soundtrack from a rising local star. Caroline.

#1 Cardinals' Fan

Cate is ready to go to the game this weekend. Sadly, her parents forgot the game was at home this weekend until it was too late. All of Cate's efforts went for naught.

The good news is that the Cardinals actually won their 2nd game of the season!!! Maybe we should miss all the games.

She got MOST of it in her mouth (MOM!).

Yummy! Plums and rice! It's so good that she has to hold onto her chair so she doesn't jump up for joy and hurt herself.

Well, almost every day...

Cate Videos!!!!

This one is especially for David and Donna, who missed seeing Cate last weekend. Here she is, getting her bath before everyone came to visit.

Cate's Bathtime!

And here she is, being ADORED!

This one makes me sad for some reason... I don't think I will put anymore videos to music. I think I have bad taste in music overlays. If you look very closely, you see a splint-second long frown, like she is about to cry. It doesn't last very long. She's a happy baby!

Today, I almost cut her fingers off in the wipey (sp?) heater/holder that is on her changing table. I didn't see that her fingers were in it, and I pushed HARD on it to get it to close. Trauma (especially for me, her dad, who was the idiot that didn't look to make sure her fingers weren't in it). But she was fine. Not a mark. But she cried for a minute or two... pretty darn hard.

EDIT: I didn't notice it when I watched the "Adored", but Maggie pointed out how her eyebrows go up right at the very beginning. It's pretty funny (to us).

Cate's first feeding with a spoon!

Today was a big milestone for Cathryn. She started the morning with rice cereal. Mommy held her and her hands and Daddy did the whole feeding. Cathryn was ready! She gobbled it all up. We'll feed rice cereal for 3 days (2 feedings a day) and then we'll try another cereal. Probably oatmeal......

Our baby girl is growing up so fast.

Cate's FIRST Concert!!!

Mom and Cate are sitting outside at Desert Foothills Park, listening to some rock 'n roll. It was a lot of fun. Maggie made us a great picnic. The sandwiches were so good that everyone (except for me, cuz I helped) thought they were made by AJ's. Yeah, seriously.

I know this picture looks a lot like the previous picture, but can you ever have too much of a good thing? Not in this blog! Isnt' Maggie just GLOWING??? She just ran 12 miles not 10 minutes before this picture was taken. And she still had time to make a picnic basket for us all. Not pictured: Josh, Caroline & Sara (Caroline and Sara were scarce - they were dancing in the mosh pit. Josh stayed near his Papa, but didn't get in any pictures).

This was actually taken before we left. That is not a mountain behind Cate's head.

Shut up.

Cate and Friends

We took some new pictures this weekend so that we'd be able to keep everyone flush with pictures of Cate. We are here for you, the adoring public...

We are taking a poll on who you think Cate looks like in this picture:

That's me (dad) on the left:

It looks like she has some blonde hair in this picture, but she doesn't. It's got some red in it, but she will be a brunette with striking blue-eyes, with a figure to kill for, a personality like no other, and an innate ability to marry for money. Lots of it. Enough for her parents, too.

Even a fun-loving soul like Cate needs to get serious sometimes. In this picture, Maggie is reading some of Voltaire's work. Personally, I don't like him, but I want her to be well-rounded. Besides, it will take MONTHS before she can fully appreciate philosophers like Kant or Nietzsche.

No New Pictures...

Maggie needs to take pictures of Cate and post them.

Cate has all sorts of cute new outfits, and I think Maggie should take some pictures and post them! Cate is really getting some personality! She loves to yell and scream and kick her legs and flail her arms. FUH-KNEE!!!

We'll have to video tape some of that. Can we post that stuff on here, or do we have to link it?

Anyone?

Bonding: Cate & Caroline

We took Cate for her first swim today. She didn't LOVE it at first (like I had thought she would, seeing how she LOVES bathtime). However, she got comfortable after a few minutes, and started kicking and flailing at the water. I tried to dunk her a little bit, but someone had their timing off a bit, and she choked up some water and coughed for a few seconds. Better luck next time. Maggie says she (Cate, not Maggie) will be in a swim class at 6 months (per the direction of the YMCA swim coach). We'll have a little mermaid, even if it kills her!

Cate and Caroline have a "moment" together. It was especially nice for us, because Cate hasn't been feeling well today.

Isn't Caroline HYSTERICAL??? I wonder if I should take pictures of what I do behind her back when she isn't looking...

Cate has such a sly smile, don't you think? Everytime we take pictures, we get a smile like this somewhere in the batch.

It's hard to tell, but she is actually getting real hair on the top of her head. She still has that little capuchin monk style in the back of her head (A ring of no-growth), but it's getting LONG in back. She'll be modeling for the hair salon magazines in NO TIME.

A WHOLE DAY WITH CATE FOR DADDY!

I got to spend the WHOLE day with Cate. Maggie was working ALL DAY on Velocity stuff, so I "had" to take care of Cate. I even changed my first poopy diaper since her first couple weeks (I have been lucky to have been out of the house every single time until today). I still got it. Cleaned her like a surgeon cleans his hands.

With a scrub brush in a large sink.

But seriously... It was awesome. She is such a good baby. Smiles all day long. Sighs and coo's and yawns and coo's some more. I even made her laugh today. A good laugh. A hearty laugh.

We took a nap together this afternoon. We both needed it. It was a hectic week for the both of us.

Then for dinner, Maggie made chinese food. When I say "made" I mean it like, "She made me go pick it up from the restaurant."

We are drinking coffee that I roasted this morning. Maggie doesn't like it. I do. She says it's bitter. HA! Such an uninformed palate has she. She just doesn't understand the complexities of a good cup of coffee. We are drinking Costa Rican "Reserva San Bosco" for goodness' sake! Perhaps I should grind up some Folgers "crystals" for her. UGH!
